Greetings

What is the most important thing for a ryokan?
At Arai Ryokan, we believe that is comfort.

What does comfort mean at Arai Ryokan?
This is, for example, bathing in the soft sunlight pouring through the foliage.
It is when you feel yourself enveloped in the balmy breezes that pass over the river and through the trees.
It is the warmth that makes you forget cold, and the cool that makes you forget heat.
It is the brilliant songs of birds and the quiet buzz of bugs that echo through your ears.
It is the mystery of vivid colors that change with the seasons.
It is the unchanging feeling of comfort one feels with all five senses.

Legend has it that Kobo Daishi brought forth this hot spring 1,200 years ago to enable a filial son wash his ailing father’s back.
